Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

The Test Automation Engineer, also known as a SDET or Software Development Engineer in Test, is an experienced, mid-level Software Engineer who designs and implements automated test solutions and processes for all development requirements of the QA Team. This individual is primarily responsible for software development and maintenance of test automation systems.

Responsibilities
Leads initiatives in the design, development, configuration, and maintenance of software testing and automated systems to support Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) delivery models.
Designs, codes, and debugs a variety of automated related software features and tools.
Designs and executes tests for cloud-based applications and services with the goal of providing proper test coverage.
Implements and maintains testing frameworks and solutions for software products.
Reviews product requirements and specifications and recommends improvements to ensure product testability.
Recommends areas of applications and services where automation would be beneficial.
Recommends tools and technologies and educates the team on these tools.
Remains current on software testing best practices and industry trends.
Monitors automated test systems to detect and root cause production code errors.
Works with the software development team, QA Lead, and Project Managers to ensure that testing deadlines are met.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or equivalent experience of 4-8 years in a related field.
2+ years of experience in object-oriented test automation.
4+ years of industry experience testing software.
Working knowledge of Java highly desirable.
Working knowledge of the following test automation frameworks is highly desirable: Rest Assured, Selenium, and Appium.
Working knowledge of performance testing tools, such as JMeter, is highly desirable.
Demonstrated Skills
Strong knowledge of cloud-based applications
Strong knowledge of software test automation and QA strategies.
Ability to work independently and to be self-motivated.
Ability to prioritize tasks and to coordinate and organize a high volume of information.
Excellent critical thinking and communication skills.
